Initially, Zavaglia was trained as a painter, and from that, she evolved into this unique process of creating a woven canvas. Her work is a combination of both the portrait she is making and the process behind its creation. She attempts to emphasize on how the final work is done with equal regard to the person whose portrait is being captured.
